Tickets: On Sale Soon!

At a reception held on Feb. 2 at the Arlington Town Hall, Arlington International Film Festival (AIFF) organizers celebrated the winning entries to their second annual poster contest. In total, AIFF’s four judges surveyed 50 poster entries from students at Arlington High School and Arlington Catholic High School, eventually winnowing the pool down to a list of the top-five finalists and one winner. At the reception, special guest Kristen Lauerman, manager and assistant programmer of film and video at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, announced the names of all six entries. The winner, Marley Jurgensmeyer, was awarded $500 by AIFF. The reception also marked the opening call for submissions to this year’s film festival, scheduled to be held in October.

MEET THE WINNING ARTIST:
Marley Jurgensmeyer is a ninth-grade student at Arlington High School. Jurgensmeyer became intrigued by the competition after hearing about it from her father, who saw a call for entries in the Arlington Advocate. Jurgensmeyer knew she wanted to incorporate an international flair to her piece and did so through the use of flags from different countries. Jurgensmeyer said she’s better at computer art than drawing, and leaned on her Photoshop skills to create the final product. She said she was surprised to be named the winner and thinks producing another poster would be fun.

MEET THE TOP-FIVE FINALISTS:
The top-five finalists were also recognized at the reception on Feb. 2. They are: Dylan Desjardins, 10th-grader from Arlington High School; Sarah Griesmer, 10th-grader from Arlington High School; Adam Hill, 11th-grader from Arlington High School, Richan Li, 11th-grader from Arlington Catholic High School; Ziza Soares, ninth-grader from Arlington High School.

Honing a synthesis of folk and blues for more than 40 years and having released thirteen records, Chris Smither is truly an American original.  A profound songwriter, Chris continues to draw deeply from the blues, American folk music, modern poets and humanist philosophers.  A blistering guitarist, Chris melds the styles of his two major influences, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Mississippi John Hurt, into his own signature guitar sound. Reviewers praise his dazzling guitar work, gravelly voice and songwriting.  New York Times:  With a weary, well-traveled voice and a serenely intricate finger-picking style, Mr. Smither turns the blues into songs that accept hard-won lessons and try to make peace with fate.  Come celebrate Chris’ new record as he returns to the Regent Theatre www.smither.com

‘Til Death Do Us Part: Late Nite Catechism 3 is the latest class to be unveiled in this sinfully funny series.  After teaching countless students all about the saints, venial sins, guilt, limbo and more, Sister is now offering up hilarious lessons on the Sacraments of Marriage and Last Rites, including her own wacky version of the Newlywed Game.  Classroom participation is a must so bring along your sweetie and your sense of humor for a session with the country’s feistiest couples counselor!

Featuring Denise Fennell -
DENISE (MARIE CHRISTINA) FENNELL (Sister) Denise is originally from Boston, MA, where she grew up in a very strict Italian Catholic neighborhood, often attending mass with her Grandma Bianca on a daily basis. Denise currently calls both Los Angeles and New York City home. Some of you may recognize Denise from Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding, in which she frequently appears in the title role of Tina. Maripat Donovan discovered Denise as Tina in her white wedding dress, blue eye shadow and her hair sprayed so high it almost reached heaven. Maripat apparently saw something that led her to believe there was a nun lurking somewhere behind the gum chewing, wise-cracking bride. All kidding aside, Denise would like to thank Maripat for believing in her and for being patient while Denise took the time to believe in herself. It is with great honor that she trades her wedding dress in for a habit, and instead of Tony chooses to marry God.

It’s Frank Zappa meets Pete Seeger!  •  It’s Parliament- Funkadelic and Spike Jones meet Mr. Rogers!  •  It’s Miriam Makeba and Igor Stravinsky meet Captain Kangaroo!

Throw out the rules when Billy Jonas hits the stage! It’s a musical conversation… a sonic celebration … a splendiferous gathering of old and young, because at a Billy Jonas show, the ensemble is… everyone.

Fun for All Ages
Billy Jonas is one of those rare performers who can engage and delight both young and adult audiences.  Billy’s clear tenor voice is well-suited to a plethora of venues, from intimate settings and workshop sessions to large halls and outdoor festivals. For more than two decades, his creative and interactive performances have enchanted and inspired folks from all walks of life — touching hearts, souls, and minds world-wide .  As a founding member of the acclaimed duo “The Billys,” Billy Jonas has made innovative use of “found objects.” He helps audiences discover the music within common items … and within themselves. Billy Jonas’ recordings and live concerts across the US and Canada have generated an enthusiastic following. His CD “What Kind of Cat are You?!” received multiple awards including a First Place/Gold from AFIM (American Federation of Independent Musicians), and a Parent’s Choice Gold.  Jonas’ videos have garnered critical acclaim, including Parents Choice Awards and a New York Times “Best” listing.

The Concert Experience
Billy Jonas’ music is percussion-based, making use of found objects (buckets, broom handles, bottles, key chains and more) as well as traditional instruments. But on any given day, the specific nature of this unforgettable neo-tribal hootenanny is largely determined and shaped by the audience. He tailors both his song selection and its presentation to suit the needs and vibe of each audience. So every Billy Jonas concert is a unique experience. He makes spirited, straightforward music that is accessible to anyone and everyone, regardless of age or cultural background. The big-tent festival quality of Billy’s music facilitates connection and community while fostering inspiration and… most importantly… FUN. Billy Jonas has shared stages with many renowned artists, including Patti Larkin, Ani DiFranco, David Wilcox, Richard Thompson, and Pete Seeger. His upbeat, engaging presence (both onstage and off) encourages active audience participation. His concerts are a magical mix of stagecraft and wholesome, open-ended, anything-can- happen spontaneity.

GRAMMY award winner Alison Krauss says, “Billy Jonas’ talent and wit make him and his music irresistible. Whenever I see him perform, my face hurts from smiling.” And Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary) testifies, “Billy Jonas is one of the most original, moving and simultaneously hilarious performers I’ve ever seen.”

That little guy from the Sun has plans to land in the Boston area on the national tour of his all-new, out-of-this-world, multimedia show! Gustafer Yellowgold celebrates the beginning of summer at a “Summer Sun Special Event” performance of Gustafer
Yellowgold’s Infinity Sock at The Regent Theatre, 7 Medford St., Arlington, MA on Sunday, June 12, at 2:00 p.m.

Groovy Gustafer Yellowgold is a small, yellow, cone-headed fellow, who came to Earth from the Sun and has a knack for finding himself neck-deep in absurd situations as he explores his new life in the Minnesota woods. Illustrator/songwriter/musician Morgan Taylor developed the “musical moving book” Gustafer Yellowgold experience as equal parts pop rock concert and animated storybook.

On Friday, April 13th, it’s a black tie affair, complete with red carpet: Come see some of this region’s (and the country’s) best collegiate groups compete on stage, and be a part of the first annual LIVE Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards. Then, on Saturday, April 14th, come to the Professional Showcase and experience firsthand why a cappella is blowing up in the mainstream and why it’s so much more than just “music without instruments.” Tickets for both events—or the whole weekend!—are available now at www.bostonsings.com.”

Boston-based singer-songwriter and children’s performer, Vanessa Trien, has become a local rock star among the young and young at heart. The “Nessa Groupies” sing and dance in the aisles at her packed shows with her lively band, the Jumping Monkeys, and can’t get enough of her two award-winning children’s CDs, ‘Carnival Day’ and ‘Hot Air Balloon.’

As Boston Children’s Music puts it, “Vanessa’s shows are perfect. It’s hard to explain and I can’t quite put my finger on what it is they do differently, but whatever it is, it really gets the kids (and parents) excited!…She has some sort of magical energy that makes all of her shows super fun…”

Growing up in New York City, Vanessa Trien cut her musical teeth on family folk sing-alongs, but she blossomed while living in Costa Rica, singing, recording, and performing with an Afro-Caribbean band and later writing and performing her own material. A subsequent move to Boston introduced Trien into the heart of New England’s thriving folk music scene.

“Like many of the moms here in Brookline, I have a minor obsession with Vanessa Trien. It’s not just because she’s an incredible musician who has followed her dreams and released two outstanding albums for children. It’s not just because she has a beautiful smile and a wonderful way with kids. It’s not just because she’s a warm, kind and generous person. It’s not just because her voice is like warm honey. It’s not just because my son and my nephew are both mini-groupies. It’s the sum of all these things that make her such a special part of our community…”

Mike Bent began his career in magic at age 6, when he checked out his first magic book from the library. That book started him on the path to a lifetime love of learning, creativity and performance. He began performing when he was 15 years old. By the time he graduated from Emerson College, he was performing his original magic and comedy routine at clubs and colleges throughout the country. This led to a performance at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival, and numerous television appearances on HBO, Showtime, ABC, NBC, CBS, Comedy Central and A&E.
Mike has been teaching professional comedy writing at Emerson College for more than 20 years. It’s not unusual to watch a comedy show on television and see one of Mike’s former students listed in the credits. In 2009, Mike published his first book—The Everything Guide to Comedy Writing. Mike won the Nickelodeon™ Parents’ Picks Award in 2009 for being “Boston’s Best Children’s Entertainer.” In 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011, Mike performed at The White House in Washington, D.C. at the annual Easter Egg Roll.

A live Debbie and Friends show is a trip for the entire family—a joyful jaunt through a variety of styles, from straight-ahead pop, to country, to rock, to reggae, all delivered by a band of musicians who are clearly there because they love it. Kids become the Big Bad Wolf and blow the house down, fix Rosie’s wrong rhymes, and test their skills with the Simon Says Song. Like everyone’s favorite teacher, Debbie connects with her audience and respects kids for the people they are, and her warmth is sincere and her radiance downright contagious.
What kids love is her energy, her sunshine, and the interesting array of musicians she brings to each show, including keyboard, all sorts of hand percussion, energetic and sometimes zany backing vocalists, saxophones, banjo, fiddle, flute, whistles—you name it. Every show is different. Kids love being active participants in every song, and the audience is as much a part of the show as Debbie and her band.
Perfect for families with kids ages 2-8.

2011 CBS Boston Best Local Children’s Musician
2010 Nickelodeon Parents Pick Award
2010 Boston Children’s Music Performance Award

And, Debbie and Friends has a song on the 2011 Grammy Nominated CD!

“Sweet, upbeat, classic kids’ songs that are fun to sing along to and bring new twists to your favorite children’s stories. You should see a room full of kids reacting to this song—it’s so much fun!”  – Amber Bobnar, Boston Children’s Music

“Fantastic concert!  Debbie and Friends puts on a wonderful show. It makes your heart feel good to see the families and the kids dancing!” – Arlene Smith, Watertown, MA Family Network Director

Karen K & the Jitterbugs (featuring Karen Kalafatas, or Karen “K” to her fans) have been delighting families up and down the east coast since the release of their debut album, Pancakes for Dinner, last year.  Based out of Brooklyn, NY & Karen’s new home of Arlington, MA, Karen K & her Jitterbugs’ are rising stars in the “kindie” music scene – a term coined for the blend of kids music and indie rock – thanks to their eclectic sound and Karen Ks well-written, memorable, original songs.  As upbeat and danceable as they are humorous and relatable (take “That’s What I’m Wearing Today” about a tot attempting to dress herself in the morning, or the title track about a mom delighting her offspring by replacing dinner with breakfast), parents find themselves singing along to her catchy tunes as their tots dance happily in the aisles.  A former musical theater veteran with powerhouse vocals, Karen K’s immeasurable energy, and innate ability to connect with audience members young and old make her as likable as she is listenable.
Karen K & the Jitterbugs have been featured in New York Magazine’s Best of 2011 issue and were chosen as a Critic’s Pick in Time Out New York Kids and New York magazine.  They opened for family music super-star Elizabeth Mitchell in September in New York City at the much-anticipated Super Sonic Kindie Music Festival, and will be performing up and down the east coast all year.  Karen’s popular Jitterbugs music classes for kids 5 years and under, currently running in New York City and Boston, MA, have been hailed by parents as “an absolute joy of a class” and “the best class in the city”.

Alexander, King of Jesters, revives a cultural icon—the medieval fool.  His period music, mind bending sight gags, amazing stunts, and wildly imaginative spirit transport audiences to another place and time.  Alex has been seen on Showtime, PBS, and ‘America’s Got Talent, at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, and was introduced on Public Radio International as a ‘cultural ambassador’ for his tours in Russia.

The RE:GENERATION MUSIC PROJECT encompasses a documentary film that examines the history of different musical genres through the eyes of five of the most influential electronic producers/DJ’s in music today, along with the original music created for the project.  Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights and Skrillex each take a specific musical style and explore it by writing and recording a brand new track with a grouping of influential collaborators in that genre.

The entire experience comes to life in Re:Generation’s feature documentary directed by award-winning documentarian Amir Bar-Lev (“My Kid Could Paint That,” “The Tillman Story”). Along the way, these five DJ/producers journey to hotbeds for each genre including New Orleans for jazz, Nashville for country, Los Angeles for rock, Boston for classical and Detroit for R&B.  For example, you’ll find Denver-based Pretty Lights traveling to Nashville, visiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and going into the studio with the legendary Dr. Ralph Stanley and LeAnn Rimes for “Wayfaring Stranger.” Skrillex teams up with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger along the Venice Boardwalk in Los Angeles to later collaborate on “Breakn’ A Sweat” with John Densmore for what will amount to the first original recording featuring members of The Doors since An American Prayer was released in 1978.

Martha Reeves of the Vandellas and The Funk Brothers get a visit in Detroit from breakbeat pioneers The Crystal Method for an R&B horn- sassy and down-bass “I’m Staying”; Mark Ronson heads to Piety Street Studios and Preservation Hall in New Orleans to meet up with Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Trombone Shorty, members of the Dap Kings and Zigaboo Modeliste to record a raw, jazzy number titled “A La Modeliste”; and DJ Premier heads down the Paul Revere trail from Boston where he conducts the Berklee Symphony Orchestra in his New York City studio to capture lyrics by NAS for “Regeneration.”

Presented by Hyundai Veloster, the RE:GENERATION MUSIC PROJECT crosses the most unexpected generations and genres in today’s most innovative form of music creativity.  Hyundai’s role as the project’s benefactor not only supports the artists, but creates an ambitious platform that challenges artists to fashion something they might not otherwise have imagined for these captured ‘fish out of water’ moments.  Scott Kirkland of The Crystal Method puts it best: “There is no sound we can’t make.  There’s not a beat we can’t create.  There’s not an artist we can’t record…Now what?”  “You just put me in a whole different way on how to listen,” adds DJ Premier.

Interviews include basketball superstar Kobe Bryant, acclaimed actors Mickey Rourke and Ed O’Neill, world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, UFC’s Dana White and world champion Jon Jones, and a host of Bruce Lee’s family, friends and associates in combination with rarely seen archival footage, classic photos, and cutting edge visuals and graphics. The film goes more deeply into the story of this legendary master than ever before.

“Judy Pancoast’s velvety voice, phrasing and conversational delivery of a song are all products of years spent listening to the timeless recordings of the Carpenters. Her passion and joy for the material make Judy the perfect vocalist to pay tribute.”
—Randy Schmidt, author of Little Girl Blue: the Life of Karen Carpenter

Featuring GRAMMY Nominated Vocalist JUDY PANCOAST and Musical Director Michael Pierce.
A most romantic way to celebrate the most romantic weekend of the year, with the timeless love songs of The Carpenters, including such classics as “We’ve Only Just Begun,” “Rainy Days and Mondays,” “I Won’t Last a Day Without You” and, of course, “Close to You.”

When Judy Pancoast’s fans remark that she sounds “just like Karen Carpenter,” it’s no coincidence.  Pancoast was just eleven years old when her older sister told her about a song she’d heard on the radio, and said that the girl singing it sounded “just like you.”  That was the summer of 1970, and when Judy finally heard “(They Long to Be) Close to You” it was the beginning of a childhood adulation that would last well into her adult years.  She spent her adolescent and teen years listening nearly non-stop to the music of the brother and sister duo who called themselves “Carpenters”, and became on of the charter members of their fan club at age 12.  She saw them in concert five times and, in what remains one of the great thrills of her life, wrangled her way backstage to meet them at a concert in Portland, Maine in October, 1973.  Judy’s natural rich alto voice blended well with Karen’s, and she spent countless hours in front of a mirror with a hair brush “microphone” mimicking her idol’s voice.  Later, while a music major at the University of Maine, she was advised to “stop trying to sound like Karen Carpenter,” but although she managed finally to all but erase the traces of Karen’s stylings, the influence had already had its impact.  To this day she is delighted when fans who have no idea of her long history with the music of The Carpenters tell her she sounds “A lot like Karen Carpenter,” and she considers it the greatest compliment of all.  She is thrilled beyond measure to have been invited to perform this tribute concert with her long-time friend and fellow Carpenters’ fan, Michael Pierce.

“This is a tribute concert in the truest sense of the word,” says Pancoast.  “Instead of trying to impersonate The Carpenters, I’m going to be sharing songs and recollections with the audience of a special time when simple love songs and the pure, rich alto of a girl held the world spellbound.”

The concert will not only include the chart topping hits that made The Carpenters the best-selling duo of the 1970’s, but will also some of Judy’s favorite album cuts.

Will Dailey: www.willdailey.com
Will Dailey & The Rivals pave a new path with their upcoming full length self titled album and first for Universal Republic Records. Breaking from an approach they employed on their last series of recordings, Will Dailey and his musical cohorts don’t stick to one simple theme, emotion, genre, or style this time out. Rather, the Boston group incorporates elements of introspective folk and invigorating pop into one big rock ‘n’ roll ride.

Autumn Hollow
: www.autumnhollow.com
The Autumn Hollow Band is an Americana four-piece derivative of its Boston roots and the collaborative musicianship of Brendan Murphy, Todd Sampson, Scott Marucci, and Mike Burke. They’ve split their three year tenure between playing live, encouraging the fellowship of area roots musicians and recording their first album. The resultant album is a mish-mash of the Grateful Dead and The Band, more Wilco than Son Volt, but is a sound all their own. The Autumn Holler gents make you want to flick a Bic, raise a beer and sing along.

The Rationales
: www.therationales.com
A mix of power pop and alternative. Dripping with hooks & harmonies. Layers of sound. That’s the best way to sum up the music of the Rationales. Described as ‘soaring sounds of hope from the edge,’ this Boston quintet was formed in 2007 by singer-songwriter/guitarist David Mirabella. The band’s wax-and-wane lineup has settled into founding keyboardist Matt Goldfield, powerhouse rhythm section featuring
Dave’s brother, Mike Mirabella (Scamper, The Future Everybody, The Brendan Boogie Band) on drums & backing vocals, and relocated Torontonian Sean Black (The Eines) on bass & backing vocals. Founding member Kevin McMahon lent his guitar and vocals to
the new record, shoes now filled by Pete Zeigler (Hey Now Morris Fader).

Coalition for Courage: http://coalitionforcourage.org/
Coalition for Courage is a product of a few people who cared enough to make something happen, and the donors who had the faith to help support the mission. We are less about change through public policy, and more about living with kids and identifying real places where we can make a real difference – today.

Ayn Rand and the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged is a feature length documentary film that examines the resurging interest in Ayn Rand’s epic and controversial 1957 novel and the validity of its dire prediction for America.
Set in what Novelist and philosopher Rand called ‘the day after tomorrow,’ Atlas depicts an America in crisis, brought to her knees by a corrupt establishment of government regulators and businessmen with political pull – the ‘looters’ and the ‘moochers’ – who prey on individual achievement.

Less a conventional work of fiction than a philosophical manifesto in the form of a romantic novel, over the course of a thousand-plus pages, Atlas tackles no less an essential argument than the one debated by philosophers and theologians since time immemorial: altruism vs. self-interest.  Am I my brother’s keeper - or not?  For Ayn Rand, the answer is an emphatic no.  To Rand and the disciples of her Objectivist philosophy, self-sacrifice is as heinous an act as murder….murder of the soul.

Upon publication, Atlas Shrugged was widely scorned by critics for its ‘preposterous’ plot and one-dimensional characters. Intellectuals and academics from across the ideological spectrum roundly dismissed the new and original philosophy called ‘Objectivism’ that Rand so compellingly illustrated in the novel.

Despite this pummeling, Atlas became a best seller and has remained in print ever selling a healthy 75,000 or so copies each year.  Then with the new century, sales began to increase dramatically.  In 2007, its fiftieth anniversary year, Atlas sold a record 180,000 copies.  Since then Atlas Shrugged – published over a half century ago - has sold over a million copies.

Why? Because - as evidenced by pointed and frequent references to Rand and Atlas Shrugged in the media – an increasing number of Americans – right or wrong – see their society devolving into a nightmare scenario like the one Rand projected over a half century ago.

Ayn Rand and the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged looks into Rand’s background for the ideas and philosophy that inspired and shaped her novel and seeks to determine whether America is indeed headed for the disastrous outcome she predicted.

Splinters is the first feature-length documentary film about the evolution of indigenous surfing in the developing nation of Papua New Guinea. In the 1980s an intrepid Australian pilot left behind a surfboard in the seaside village of Vanimo. Twenty years on, surfing is not only a pillar of village life but also a means to prestige. With no access to economic or educational advancement, let alone running water and power, village life is hermetic. A spot on the Papua New Guinea national surfing team is the way to see the wider world; the only way.

EVERYDAY SUNSHINE: THE STORY OF FISHBONE
with filmmaker Q&A.

directed by Lev Anderson and Chris Metzler

narrated by Laurence Fishburne

featuring Fishbone, Flea, Ice-T, Gwen Stefani, Perry Farrell, Bob Forrest, Branford Marsalis, and George Clinton.

EVERYDAY SUNSHINE is a documentary about the band Fishbone, musical pioneers who have been rocking on the margins of pop culture for the past 25 years. From the streets of South Central-Los Angeles and the competitive Hollywood music scene of the 1980’s, the band rose to prominence, only to fall apart when on the verge of “making it.”

Laurence Fishburne narrates EVERYDAY SUNSHINE, an entertaining cinematic journey into the personal lives of this unique Black rock band, an untold story of fiercely individual artists in their quest to reclaim their musical legacy while debunking the myths of young Black men from urban America.  Highlighting the parallel journeys of a band and their city, EVERYDAY SUNSHINE explores the personal and cultural forces that gave rise to California’s legendary Black punk sons that continue to defy categories and expectations.

At the heart of Fishbone’s story is lead singer Angelo Moore and bassist Norwood Fisher who show how they keep the band rolling, out of pride, desperation and love for their art. To overcome money woes, family strife, and the strain of being aging Punk rockers on the road, Norwood and Angelo are challenged to re-invent themselves in the face of dysfunction and ghosts from a painful past.

Screening of Award-winning Film “Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream” with Q & A and Live Performance!

NEW YEAR’S EVE, Saturday Dec. 31, 7:00PM (doors at 6:00pm)

On Saturday, December 31 at 7:00pm the Regent Theatre in Arlington, Massachusetts will present a special event: “Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream- Live on Stage and Screen”—a rare theatrical production, combining a screening of the acclaimed documentary “Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream,” followed by a Q&A and live performance of Jimmy Tingle for President: The Funniest Campaign in History.

About “Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream”
This captivating, provocative film is a one-hour tour-de-force of comedy, commentary and conversation with some of America’s most iconic personalities and social critics, as well as family, friends and total strangers as they speak up and speak out on the American Dream. As Tingle weaves his stand-up comedy career into the fabric of the American Dream, you’ll meet Oscar winners and comedians, historians and the homeless as he aspires to make us laugh, to make us think, and encourages us to dream.

The film features interviews and opinions of Robert Altman, Bobcat Goldthwait, Howard Zinn, Mort Sahl, Janeane Garafalo, Sean Hannity, Lewis Black, Al Franken, Robert Reich, Colin Quinn, Barry Crimmins, Jimmy’s mother, Frances, and more. The soundtrack includes music by Willie Nelson, The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones, The Neighborhoods, and Jimmy Tingle on harmonica.

About “Jimmy Tingle for President: The Funniest Campaign in History”

Under the background of the upcoming 2012 Presidential election, and amid the growing dissent of Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party movements, Jimmy Tingle has constructed another hilarious, thought provoking and politically charged one man show based on his 2012 run for the presidency. As the founder of the “Humor for Humanity” party, Jimmy Tingle is running on his comedic record.  The campaign underlines his passion and creative thinking on every issue the next president must grapple with from alternative energy to immigration to jobs and the national debt. Despite the seriousness of the issues confronting America and the world, Jimmy Tingle for President is The Funniest Campaign in History.

Have you ever been to a film musical and had the uncontrollable urge to burst into song?
Do you muse over the endless tailoring opportunities for chintz curtains?
Have you always wondered what it would be like to wear a wimple?

Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music is your chance to test your vocal range with several hundred other assorted nuns, Von Trapp family members and Julie Andrews look-a-likes.

The evening begins with a live show in which your host will lead you through a vocal warm-up, judge the fancy dress competition and award the prizes. Costumes are not compulsory but they are highly recommended and you will be amazed at the inventiveness on display. The host will then show you how to use your free goody bag throughout the film and suggest some appropriate heckles and accompanying actions (such as hissing the countess, barking at Rolf and, of course, cheering for Julie).

Then, you sit back and watch the original 1965 movie in glorious Technicolor ™ with the lyrics for all the songs on the screen, so you won’t miss a chance to sing your hearts out. The audience takes over as the star of the show from this point and almost anything can happen – and usually does!
