ABOUT TYLER MORRIS
Tyler Morris has been playing guitar at a professional level since he was 11, and at the ripe old age of 19 released his third album internationally. But Tyler is not just another young musical genius — his gift runs deeper than an amazing set of ears paired with two very skillful hands. Ever since he picked up a guitar, Tyler has been driven to get to the roots of the songs and styles he learns and absorbs, and to reflect his huge and growing body of influences onto his own interpretations and eventually, his own compositions. Thanks to his father’s music collection, Tyler developed an affinity for Blues and Rock music around the age of 6 and settled on guitar as his primary obsession at 9. He would work on songs by Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, and B.B. King until he could do a faithful rendition of the originals, his focus moving from Rock to Blues and back again, exploring AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin. Tyler then turned to Van Halen, learning their catalog and channeling that style so thoroughly that he was later featured in a blazing tribute video to Eddie Van Halen’s technique for Vintage Guitar magazine. After a few years, Tyler turned his attention to more classically rooted Rock musicians such as Deep Purple/Rainbow’s Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Jason Becker, and also became interested in Andy Timmons, Gary Moore, Bon Jovi and Journey.

Special Guest: Kate Russo’s PIECE OF MY PEARL Janis Joplin Tribute

Through The Doors is a multimedia celebration of Jim Morrison and The Doors touring since 1980. This re-creation of the sound, look and “feel” of an actual Doors concert is so complete, it never ceases to startle even the seasoned crew. And it starts right away: In the darkened theater, well before the band has taken the stage, anticipation runs hot and the chanting for “Jim” begins. Perhaps it is the audiences’ overwhelming desire to experience a true “Resurrection” that fuels the flames. Or, attribute it if you must, to a legend that survives, even grows, some 40 years after the mysterious death of James Douglas Morrison and the dissolution of his band.
Even now The Doors’ albums continue to sell and Jim’s face still appears on the covers of magazines, film, television and radio. They serve up the “Lizard King” on a daily basis, and still the masses pay homage in droves that surpass even the dizzying heights of the band’s popularity when still “alive”. And yet, a Through The Doors performance goes far beyond the simple duplication of a concert that would have been standard late 1960’s fare.

This performance is more akin to a Broadway show or Vegas Extravaganza – seasoned professional actor/musicians utilizing sound, staging, lighting, and projection equipment that audiences have come to expect. The effect is electrifying and the response has been phenomenal, as their longevity alone can testify to.  So, sit back in your seat (for as long as you can), and get ready to travel through the Doors of perception, traverse space and time on a psychedelic, mind expanding dance-trance!  Ladies and Gentlemen: Through The Doors!

ABOUT THE MOVIE…

Every holiday season, countless millions from all over the world gather around television screens to watch their favorite Christmas movies. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol (in all its many versions), A Christmas Story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and of course, The Polar Express, are all universally beloved holiday movies.

But no list of classic Christmas movies could ever be complete without including 1954’s White Christmas starring Bing Crosby.

White Christmas was a Paramount picture and was the first-ever movie filmed in the then-breakthrough wide screen wonder VistaVision.

White Christmas was released on October 14, 1954. It premiered at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Variety gave the film a thumbs up, saying: White Christmas should be a natural hit at the box office… ...Crosby and Kaye keep the entertainment going… ...clicking so well the team should call for a repeat…. White Christmas proved a financial bonanza, earning over $12 million dollars at the box office (a Star Wars-like amount in 1954). In fact, White Christmas was the biggest movie hit of the year.

See it now on the big screen accompanied by the Regent Theatre’s concert sound system!

Have you ever been to a film musical and had the uncontrollable urge to burst into song? Do you muse over the endless tailoring opportunities for chintz curtains? Have you always wondered what it would be like to wear a wimple, a military uniform or lederhosen?
Just sit back and watch the original 1965 movie in glorious Technicolor ™ with the lyrics for all the songs on the screen, so you won’t miss a chance to sing your hearts out. The audience takes over as the star of the show from this point and almost anything can happen – the first rule of Sing-a-long-a is THERE ARE NO RULES!

Sing-A-Long Sound of Music is your chance to test your vocal range with several hundred other assorted nuns, Von Trapp family members and Julie Andrews look-a-likes.

The evening begins with a live on-stage show in which your host will lead you through a vocal warm-up, judge the fancy dress competition and award prizes. Costumes are not compulsory but they are highly recommended and you will be amazed at the inventiveness on display. The host will then show you how to use your free goody bag throughout the film and suggest some appropriate heckles and accompanying actions (such as hissing at the countess, barking at Rolf and, of course, cheering for Julie.)

In Boston, the middle of the 1970s Me Decade saw a bunch of young, loud and snotty bands–inspired by ’60s garage rock pioneers like Willie “Loco” Alexander –playing raw, original rock and roll. The Real Kids, Nervous Eaters, DMZ and The Neighborhoods (as well as Alexander’s own Boom Boom Band) were known for their amazing live performances and an unwavering commitment to honest, hard-driving music. This is their story, recounted by surviving band members, as well as people who were on the scene like Denis Leary, Jonathan Richman, producers Rick Harte, Andy Paley, Bruce Dickinson and more. Boys From Nowhere celebrates the transcendent power of rock and roll!

LIVE PERFORMANCE BY THE NERVOUS EATERS AFTER THE FILM!

The Nervous Eaters debuted in early 1977 at the Rat in Boston, MA with Steve Cataldo on Vocal and Guitar, Rob Skeen on Bass and Jeff Wilkerson on Drums. Their first single “Loretta was released that year under the Rat Record label. By 1978 the band was one of the most popular acts in New England opening for many National Acts including The Pretenders, Iggy Pop, The Ramones and The Split Endz among others performing in the Northeast and other parts of the Country. They recorded an album for Elektra Records which was released nationally in 1980. They also have recorded for Penniman, No Tomorrow and Ace of Hearts Records.

Featuring: Paul Butterfield, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Bob Dylan and many more greats.

Paul was an incredible creative spirit and always kept stretching. As deep as he would go into the roots, he was always pushing the envelope of what blues can be.” - Bonnie Raitt

Paul learned the blues from the original black masters performing nightly in his own back yard. Muddy Waters was Paul’s mentor and lifelong friend, happy to share his wisdom and expertise with such a gifted young acolyte.

The interracial Paul Butterfield Blues Band, featuring the twin guitar sound of Michael Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop, the rhythm section of Sam Lay and Jerome Arnold and the keyboards of Mark Naftalin, added a rock edge to the Chicago blues, bringing an authenticity to its sound that struck a chord with the vast white rock audience and rejuvenated worldwide interest in the blues. The band’s first LP, released in 1965, was named “#11 Blues Album of All Time” by Downbeat.

Through his music and words, along with first‐hand accounts of his family, his band mates and those closest to him, Horn From The Heart: The Paul Butterfield Story tells the complex story of a man many call the greatest blues harmonica player of all time.

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.  Paul Butterfield is one of a handful of musicians inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Blues Halls of Fame, alongside other legendary artists including B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Billie Holiday and Eric Clapton.

In Deconstructing The Beatles’ White Album Scott Freiman takes Beatles fans, young and old, into the studio with The Beatles as they create their bestselling album (and the bestselling album of the 60’s), The Beatles (commonly referred to as the White Album)—on the 50th Anniversary of its release.

Released in 1968, the White Album’s thirty songs span almost every style of music—from hard rock to country to chamber music to avant garde. Its recording took place during a remarkable year in Beatles history that included the death of Brian Epstein, the creation of Apple Corps, and a trip to India to study meditation.

In this multimedia presentation, Mr. Freiman transports his audience into Abbey Road Studio for a look at the revolutionary techniques used during the production of “Revolution,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Blackbird,” and other songs from the White Album. It’s an educational journey into the creative process of The Beatles’ performances and recording sessions, allowing the audience to see and hear the evolution of these groundbreaking songs and their lasting influence on popular music.

THE SHOW YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS…

This is not your typical tribute show. Six talented young artists bring us back to the days of swoonin’, boppin’ and rockin’! With fresh new takes on classic hit songs including That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Everyday, Summertime Blues, Oh Donna, La Bamba, Chantilly Lace, Beggar to a King, and Twist and Shout, audiences won’t be able to resist getting up on their feet and dancing the night away!

When you look out over the landscape of tribute bands, you may notice that there are a lot them dedicated to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper and their infamous 1959 Winter Dance Party. So you might wonder, what is so different about Not Fade Away? Not Fade Away was created out of survival. But not the survival of the players in the band. The band’s young members have played to audiences in national tours and regional productions of various shows. Not Fade Away was created out of the survival of this incredible, legendary and important music created well over 50 years ago.

Having also been a part of many standard tribute shows, Not Fade Away wants to create a new show that will keep this music relevant, give it edge, bring it into today’s music scene, while not forgetting the importance of the music’s place in history and the impact it had on the world. They’re not just looking to dwell on “The Day the Music Died”. These greats were more than their last night on earth. They were the pioneers of rock n’ roll. They gifted an energetic new kind of music, changing the landscape for an entire generation of music listeners and music makers alike. Not Fade Away hopes to revamp and regift those songs to a new generation so that they may last another 50 years

Some Reviews:
With his short, curly hair and thick framed glasses, Mancuso captures not only the look and sound of Buddy Holly but also the spirit of the young rock ‘n roller ... for all sense and purposes, Jared Mancuso is Buddy Holly!
-David Appleford (American Theatre Critics Association) from AZ

The absolutely sensational Mancuso has been spending the past couple years as Buddy, either in regional revivals of the musical that bears his name or in his own self-penned tribute show Buddy’s Back!, and this immersion into Buddy’s life and music shows. Not only is the triple-threat pretty darned sexy even in Buddy’s extra-heavy-rimmed horn rims, he totally convinces us that he is indeed the legendary singer-musician-songwriter, capturing every iota of Buddy’s infectious charm, good nature, and enthusiasm. Mancuso sounds just like Buddy, accompanies himself to perfection on the guitar, and following in the real-life Buddy’s footsteps, holds the audience in the palm of his hand.”
-Steven Stanley (Stage Scene LA)

FILM SYNOPSIS

In 1998 there were less than 1,500 breweries in the United States - now there are over 7,000.  Brewmaster tells the story of the rise of craft beer through two young men pursuing their dreams in the world of beer.

Drew is young New York lawyer who wants to start his own brewery.  He uses every free moment to make this a reality while preparing for a pitch with a potential investor. Brian, an ex-telemarketer, is studying to become a Master Cicerone - the beer equivalent of a sommelier - which requires taking a test only 13 people have ever passed.

Set in the craft beer community, the film features successful brewers Sam Calagione, John and Jen Kimmich, Jim Koch, Garrett Oliver and Rob Tod. This is the definitive documentary on beer and the community of craft beer.

Spend an evening with America’s premiere Robin Williams tribute artist. You will feel you are in the presence of one of the funniest and most heralded comedic icons of the 21st century. Robin was not only a wonderful actor and stand-up comedian, but a philosopher and humanitarian. The show you will see is funny, poignant and sometimes just a wild ride through the mind of a lovable madman. Robin seemed to always be teetering on the edge of childlike innocence even when he was being naughty. If you never had the chance to see him in concert, now is the time. The show you will see tonight is the subject of an upcoming motion picture entitled 'Comeback

Escape to the Regent for a special tribute to HOUDINI, on both stage and screen, on October 26, 2018.  Jeff Rapsis opens the film vault to present Houdini’s long-lost silent movie, Terror Island, complete with live musical accompaniment. Professional magicians David Garrity and Matt Roberts will leave you astonished with their jaw-dropping illusions, interactive feats of escapology and even a spooky demonstration of the spiritualism that Houdini crusaded against, just in time for Halloween (the night the legendary magician died in 1926).

LIVE SHOW featuring Randy Black and The Heathcroppers, The Dogmatics, Bim Skala Bim, & TBA Allstars starts at 9:15PM

“Boston rock history isn’t complete without a look at Chet’s Last Call, a seedy but spirited ‘80s club where many noted acts cut their chops under the guidance of eccentric yet beloved owner Chet Rooney. This head-spinning new film is a raucous, fast-paced tribute to him and the underground, anything-goes music of the time.”  —Steve Morse, ...former staff critic at the Boston Globe who now teaches Rock History at Berklee College of Music

Chet’s Last Call :  A Story of Rock & Redemption

This is the story of CHET’S LAST CALL “Ground zero of the underground Boston music scene in the 1980’s” and of its owner Richard (Chet) Rooney, a man who came full circle in his far too short life.

Chet died suddenly in his sleep on December 10th 2015. He helped countless bands get their start from 1982 to 1987. All the bands in this documentary got a lot of tough love and inspiration from Chet early in their now long careers. Later in life, Chet went on to help many of these same people get clean as a drug and alcohol counselor. Having been there and kicked it himself, Chet knew how to help. He was the youngest club owner in Boston and related to the music and the people who made that music like no other.

So, we decided to have an old fashioned Irish wake, Chet’s Last Call style: put on a show, film it, record it and make this documentary to honor our old friend, his beloved dive bar and to continue his mission to help people trapped in the bonds of addiction. A portion of all proceeds from this documentary will be used to help fund addiction treatment and prevention centers throughout the country

On February 12th and May 21st 2016 fourteen bands including Dogzilla, Bim Skala Bim, Dogmatics, Pajama Slave Dancers, Liz Borden Group, Moose and the Mudbugs, The Real Kids, Xanna Don’t, Randy Black, The Hopelessly Obscure, Classic Ruins, Chelsea Clutch, Joe Harvard, Harlequin, AEF, Linda Viens, The Choirboys and several special guests, family and friends all gathered at Once Ballroom in Somerville, Massachusetts to honor our old friend Chet aka Richard Rooney, owner and booker at the legendary punk rock dive bar Chet’s Last Call.

The two epic shows were recorded multi-track and filmed with multiple high definition cameras and professional lighting. Many musicians and friends flew back to Boston for these shows from across the country and internationally. We also interviewed over 40 rock stars, writers, former employees, family and friends as well as collected wonderful old video, posters, photos and memorabilia from Chet’s.

Chet’s friends were interviewed and shared their stories of his kindness to young misfit bands in need of a venue to get their music out to the world. Or, as a man who had been there and understood and would give you a shoulder to lean on.  Chet helped so many and they all are helping to make this film become a reality.

No Static, one of the few Steely Dan tribute bands in the country, is celebrating its 12th year together with a special concert this Fall at the Regent.

Steely Dan fans know that this music is dynamic, complex, and often challenging—spanning many genres with time changes and key changes popping up when least expected.  No Static has been doing it for over 10 years now and their sold-out shows tell the tale. Over the years they have been lucky enough to share the stage with Steely Dan band members, Walt Weiskopf (saxophonist) and Jon Herington (Music Director/guitarist), who has performed with the band at the Regent.

Meet No Static…

Greg Sestero, the incredibly handsome star of The Room (touted by many as the worst movie ever made) and the author of The Disaster Artist, brings his new film BEST F[R]IENDS Vol. 1 to The Regent and hosts a Q&A after the screening.

The film, in which he teams up with his Room cohort, Tommy Wiseau, is about a drifter (Sestero) who is taken in by a peculiar mortician (Wiseau). The two hatch an underground enterprise off the back of the mortician’s old habits, but greed, hatred, and jealousy soon come in turn, and their efforts unravel, causing the drifter to run off with the spoils and leaving the mortician adrift.

After the breakup of the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd(PiL)– his groundbreaking band which has lived on nearly 15 times as long as his first one. He kept the band alive ever since, through personnel and stylistic changes, fighting to constantly reinvent new ways of approaching music, while adhering to radical ideals of artistic integrity. John Lydon has not only redefined music, but also the true meaning of originality.

A story about giant swamp rats invading coastal Louisiana and the defiant people on the edge of the world, who are defending their communities, culture, and livelihoods from the onslaught of this curious and unexpected invasive species

SYNOPSIS: Hard headed Louisiana fisherman Thomas Gonzales doesn't know what will hit him next. After decades of hurricanes and oil spills he faces a new threat - hordes of monstrous 20 pound swamp rats. Known as “nutria”, these invasive South American rodents breed faster than the roving squads of hunters can control them. And with their orange teeth and voracious appetite they are eating up the coastal wetlands that protects Thomas and his town of Delacroix Island from hurricanes. But the people who have lived here for generations are not the type of folks who will give up without a fight. Thomas and a pack of lively bounty hunters are hellbent on saving Louisiana before it dissolves beneath their feet. It is man vs. rodent. May the best mammal win.

● Directed by Quinn Costello, Chris Metzler & Jeff Springer
● Narrated by Wendell Pierce with Music by Lost Bayou Ramblers
● Running time - 71 minutes

Yellow Submarine Synopsis

An icon of psychedelic pop culture, Yellow Submarine is a colourful musical spectacle and an exhilaratingly joyful cinematic experience for all ages – filled with visual invention, optical illusions, word play, and glorious, glorious music.

Once upon a time, ...or maybe twice…. There was an unearthly paradise called Pepperland, 80,000 leagues under the sea it lay, a place where beauty, happiness, and music reign supreme.

But this peaceful harmony is shattered when the Blue Meanies invade with their army of storm bloopers, apple bonkers, snapping turtle turks, and the menacing flying glove in an attempt to stop the music and drain Pepperland of all colour and hope.  So it’s The Beatles to the rescue, as our animated heroes team up with Young Fred and the Nowhere Man and journey across seven seas to free Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, make peace with the Meanies, and restore music, colour, and love to the world.

But beyond all the glorious music, Yellow Submarine is a landmark in animation, with Heinz Edelmann’s inspired art direction conjuring up a non-stop parade of wildly different styles and techniques.  From the paper-doll residents of Pepperland, to the tinted photography of the soot covered roofs and smokestacks Liverpool, the menagerie of fanciful characters in the Sea of Monsters, the kaleidoscopic colour-splashed rotoscoping of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, the vertigo inducing op-art of the Sea of Holes, and the triumphant euphony of the It’s All Too Much finale, the film is simply a joy.

From Jasper to Boston

A native of Jasper, Florida, Leon Beal, Jr. started singing in his church’s choir.  At a young age he toured with the Ronald Ingram Concert Choir and performed on the same bills with James Cleveland, The Caravans, Edwin Hawkins and many more!  After relocating to Boston, Leon co-founded the R&B inspirational music band called Joy-Ful.  Leon / Joy-Ful opened for many legendary vocal groups including the Temptations, Blue Magic, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The Whispers, The Stylistics and others. Joyful was frequently featured at The House of Blues at both the Harvard Sq and Kenmore Sq locations. Upon the passing of several members of the group, Leon went on to pursue a solo career writing, arranging performing and producing music for several different artists on three continents, while performing with numerous groups along the way.Blessed with a golden voice, Leon sings classic soul music around New England and the United States.  He has even performed for President Obama and guests on Martha’s Vineyard on more than one occasion!

Leon Beal, Jr. released his first CD titled “Romantic Groove” in 2006.  The set included the tracks “Doo Wah Diddy,” “Dance With Me,” “In the Mood” and “Little Brother.”  He followed that up in 2010 with the CD titled “Keep On Pushing.”  The sophomore set included the tracks “Body and Soul,” “Helping Hand” and “Why Do You Have To Leave.”  Leon’s genuine, classic soul voice is in demand by international remix producers.  He has recorded “Music Makes Me Feel Good” with Nassau and “Ready for the Night Life” with Dolls and Combers.  He was also the principle writer on Athene Wilson’s critically acclaimed “It’s About Time” CD.  Leon also appeared on both Indie Soul United CDs.  The Indie Soul United CD titled “I Remember When” included the track “Never Let You Go” and the duet with U.K. soul artist Chidi called “My Angel.”  the Indie Soul United “II” CD he was featured on the multi-artist remake of the Stevie Wonder classic “Black Man.” 2016 saw the release of Leon Beal’s 3rd CD titled “Reflections of a Man” along with two singles: “Forgot to be Your Lover” and “We Need Love”!

Recently returned from tours in Brazil and Spain, Leon is excited to present his second legacy series performance, a tribute to Otis Redding.
Leon began his Legacy Series with a Sam Cooke Tribute and has plans to do several others in addition to promoting his original compositions.
This presentation will be fun and exciting to say the least as Otis Redding was a favorite of many groups and performers of his generation such as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Eric Burdon.

“Music is a gift that we have been given, we have been charged with the obligation of sharing. We should do so with humility, pride and enthusiasm!”
—Leon Beal Jr.

MOVIE 1: BETWEEN THE FOLDS (54 minutes, starts at 7:30 pm)
Origami may seem an unlikely medium for understanding and explaining the world. But around the globe, several fine artists and theoretical scientists are abandoning more conventional career paths to forge lives as modern-day paper folders. Through origami, these offbeat and provocative minds are reshaping ideas of creativity and revealing the relationship between art and science. This unique film explores concepts of minimalism, deconstruction, process and empiricism and shows how closely art and science are intertwined. The medium of paper folding—a simple blank, uncut square—emerges as a resounding metaphor for the creative potential for transformation in all of us.

BETWEEN THE FOLDS chronicles 10 artists’ stories. The film features three of the world’s foremost origami artists: a former sculptor in France who folds caricatures in paper rivaling the figures of Daumier and Picasso; a hyper-realist who walked away from a successful physics career to challenge the physics of a folded square instead; and an artisanal papermaker who folds impressionistic creations from the very same medium he makes from scratch. The film also features advanced mathematicians and a remarkable scientist who received a MacArthur Genius Award for his computational origami research.

MOVIE 2: DESIGN & THINKING (74 minutes, starts after the first movie finishes)
“Design & Thinking” is a documentary exploring the idea of “design thinking”!

How do we fully engage organizations to think about the changing landscape of business, culture and society?

Inspired by design thinking, this documentary grabs business owners, designers, social change-makers and other professions to portrait what they have in common when facing this ambiguous 21st century.

What is design thinking? How is it applied in business models? How are people changing the world with their own creative minds? This is a call to the conventional minds to change and collaborate. It will challenge audiences with a radical new perspective on design.

This screening is free and open to the public. The theater seats 500+ so we’re not kidding: invite friends, family, acquaintances, coworkers, origami enthusiasts, guilds, Pokémon hunters, suburbanites, city-dwellers, legislators, artists - anyone who enjoys a fun and thoughtful look at the creative process of design!

SYNOPSIS

Singin’ in the Rain JR. has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline — the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes, things aren’t always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.

SYNOPSIS

In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap…until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the “American Dream”: fame, fortune, and acquittal. This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

SYNOPSIS

Sarajevo in 1994 was a city under siege.  Mortars and grenades rained down on the city, killing indiscriminately every day.  Among the madness, would it be possible to persuade a global rock star to come and play a show for local fans?

Scream For Me Sarajevo is the amazing and astonishing story of the most unlikely of rock concerts, performed by Iron Maiden front-man Bruce Dickinson in 1994, in the midst of the Siege of Sarajevo.  This is a film about extraordinary people defying the horrors of war, and the musicians who risked their lives to play a show for them.

Featuring footage from the historic gig, the film also meets those that made it to the show and made the show happen; determined to keep living their lives despite the atrocities going on around them.  Interviews with the band, crew, and security bring home the reality of a situation that was not only dangerous, but also barbaric.

We weren’t protected, there was no plan and the bullets were real, but fuck it, we went anyway” said Bruce Dickinson in his recent best-selling autobiography What Does This Button Do.  “The gig was immense, intense, and probably the biggest show in the world at that moment for the audience and for us.  That the world didn’t really know didn’t matter.  It changed the way I viewed life, death, and other human beings.

As well as the striking documentary, there will be a Q&A with Bruce Dickinson pre-recorded live on April 11, 2018 from London, that will be included as exclusive theatrical-only content to participating theatres.

About Deadgrass…

Web music authority All Music Guide, calls Matt Turk “...an artist to be reckoned with.” Matt is a seasoned recording artist, multi-instrumentalist, eternal idealist and compassionate peace loving realist. Based out of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, Matt is a veteran performer who has engaged audiences around the world. He has shared the stage with Pete Seeger and opened for Judy Collins, The Doobie Brothers, Fiona Apple, the Grateful Dead‘s Mickey Hart and more. He has performed throughout the USA, Europe, Israel and the Caribbean, appearing at festivals including Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, Gathering of the Vibes, Atlanta’s Music Midtown, Jazz at Lincoln Center and venues including The Beacon Theatre and Brooklyn Bowl.

Grammy award winner C Lanzbom has spent years as a studio and touring guitarist. Well traveled in the Middle East, C absorbed Israel-Arabic musical rhythms of the region, fusing these ancient tones with the rock and roll he grew up with along the Jersey shore. C’s performing, writing, engineering and producing credits include his own internationally acclaimed band Soulfarm, American Idol finalist Crystal Bowersox, Shlomo Carlbach, and Pete Seeger with Bruce Springsteen. C also has numerous television and film song placements. When not touring, C runs and owns Sherwood Ridge Studio, a state-of-the-art recording facility just north of New York City. C brings his unique sound around the world and his affection and passion for Jerry Garcia‘s music has been a major influence.

Fiddler Clarence Ferrari is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and music educator who has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, including appearances at the Kennedy Center and Chicago Symphony Space, specializing in Celtic and Bluegrass fiddle. Clarence has performed on dozens of records, television shows and films including The Astronaut Farmer and appeared alongside many well-known performers including Pete Seeger, Roland White and Rosanne Cash.

Bassist Dave Richards has recorded and performed with The Indigo Girls, Rosanne Cash, Marshall Crenshaw, Buster Poindexter, Madeline Peyroux, Jewel, Richie Havens and others. He has toured throughout Europe, Canada and the US, appearing at Ottawa Jazz, Toronto Blues Festival and Austin City Limits Festivals. Born in Palo Alto, California, at the age of 17 he was playing jazz five nights a week in Orlando, Florida with Billy Peebles, the drummer for Ray Charles on many classic Atlantic recordings. Dave lives with his wife, singer-songwriter, Jane Kelly Williams and daughter in Northern NJ .

Banjo player Russell Gottlieb brings a wistful and propulsive sound to the banjo by drawing on influences ranging from rock to jazz and bluegrass to minimalism, without adhering too closely to stereotypes. Russell has toured extensively in the US as a founding member of the New Jersey based The Brummy Brothers, appearing at the Gathering of the Vibes, Catskill Chill, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Brooklyn Bowl, Nectar’s, and World Cafe Live, opening for Melvin Seals and JGB, Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, and Leftover Salmon, to name a few. Additionally, Russell has worked on several studio recordings as a leader and sideman and continues to perform with various groups in the greater NYC and Philadelphia areas.

Serge Clivio is thrilled to return home to The Regent Theatre for one night only to present Sticks & Stones.  The title and idea of the concert comes directly from his newly released single “Fire Away” (available for download from iTunes and streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.  During the concert, Serge will perform a few original songs as well as an array of pop favorites (old & new)—some country, R&B and even classic rock songs that audiences of all ages will enjoy.  He will guide the audience through a journey of love, heartbreak and growing up, through intimate stories and personal songs—accompanied by a band of excellent musicians.

Sticks & Stones is music directed by Michael Stapleton and will run approximately 2 hours (including a 15 minute intermission).

About Serge Clivio…

Serge is a Massachusetts native, born in Waltham.  But, if you ask him, he would tell you that he spent pretty much all of his childhood and teen years in Arlington.  Serge attended elementary school at Saint Agnes and high school at Arlington Catholic.  He found his love for performing at the age of 5 on Medford Street at an after school program called Mo-Co Music (now Torch Light Music School).  Here, kids were able to learn how to sing, act, and perform from a very young age.  Directed and owned by Maura Lynch and Clyde Ford, Serge soon went on to make this studio his second home for the next 12 years.  He immediately began performing at the Regent Theatre with Mo-Co Music, and then went on to perform there with the Arlington Catholic Drama Club, as well as doing some benefit and anniversary shows for them.  He was even given one of his first jobs behind the concession stand at the Regent!  At Arlington Catholic, Serge found his true love - the theater.  Thanks to Jacqueline Billings (his high school drama director) he was able to perform in all of the school’s winter and spring musicals.  Serge knew that he wanted to pursue Musical Theatre for the rest of his life.  And, after many stressful college auditions, he found himself on his way to The Boston Conservatory, where he proudly graduated with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre in May of 2017.  During college, Serge was able to perform in different shows throughout the regional theatre circuit, for which he earned his Actors’ Equity Association card.  Out of college, Serge most recently auditioned for the ABC television reboot of American Idol, premiering on March 11th, for which he made it to the final round of the preliminary stages.  He is now currently residing in New York City and continuing to chase his never-ending dreams!  Follow Serge on social media @serge_clivio and visit his website to stay up to date on all of his latest news and performances!

About ELP | The Birth of a Band

Continuing our series commemorating Oscar-Winning documentary director Murray Lerner, we are pleased to present Emerson Lake & Palmer “The Birth Of A Band.” It was ELP’s first proper live concert, their only previous gig having been a warm up in Plymouth the previous night. Playing in front of 600,000 people, at what remains the biggest festival in rock history, they became overnight stars with the press raving about their virtuosity and daring. They would go on from here to become multi-million selling artists, but this unique film—from the historic August 29, 1970 Isle of Wight Festival—is there right at the beginning.

About ERUPTION

Inspired by a deep respect for the innovative music of Emerson,Lake & Palmer, the four talented and dedicated musicians that comprise Eruption endeavor to go beyond a mere tribute. Without a single costume or wig in sight, they meticulously recreate the repertoire of the progressive rock movement’s first supergroup inviting their audience to immerse themselves in the bold and dazzling fusion of classical, jazz and rock that made ELP the groundbreakers that they were.

Few musicians are talented enough(or perhaps crazy enough) to take on the intricate pieces that make up ELP’s collected works but these four hardworking musicians - Steve Baker on keyboards, Ron Stewart on drums, Bill Plourde on guitar and vocals, and Bill Drake on bass guitar succeed in a way that must be experienced to be believed!

Going beyond statistics, social media and bold headlines, storytellers share personal and intimate stories of struggles and triumphs that inspire listeners to take action and make positive change in their community and in the world. Walk a Mile is a call-to-action that challenges people to do more than just empathize, listen and learn.

Critical to the success of each event is inspiring audience members to take action after listening to the storytellers. Social impact groups and non-profits that work to support the storytellers with programs and services will also be present and will engage with audience members. These groups will come equipped with a concrete spectrum of ways that the audience can get involved and further support their work. We make it easy to put your inspiration into action!

Reclaiming Home is the first of four events in the 2017-2018 Walk A Mile series.
Our website will be available soon! In the meantime, learn more about upcoming Walk A Mile events on our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter @walkamilestories.

Special Guest Appearance:

Dweezil Zappa for a special QUESTION & ANSWER Session!

In the feature documentary, Summer ‘82 - When Zappa Came to Sicily, filmmaker and Zappa fan Salvo Cuccia tells the behind-the-scenes story of Frank Zappa’s star-crossed concert in Palermo, Sicily, the wrap-up to a European tour that ended in public disturbances and police intervention. Cuccia had a ticket to the concert but never made it.

Thirty years later, collaborating with Zappa’s family, he re-creates the events through a combination of rare concert and backstage footage; photographs; anecdotes from family, band members, and concertgoers; and insights from Zappa biographer and friend Massimo Bassoli. The story is also a personal one, as Cuccia interweaves the story of Zappa’s trip to Sicily with his own memories from that summer.

The film looks at the rise and heyday of Frank Zappa’s career as an innovative composer and libertarian provocateur, and includes tales of the relationship of a busy father with his children.

While in Sicily for the concert, Zappa visited Partinico, the birthplace of his father and grandfather; and in the film’s warm and loving coda, three of Zappa’s children, Dweezil, Moon, Diva and his wife Gail, return to meet their relatives there for the first time.

The Genesis Show is a Genesis Tribute Band that focuses on the Phil Collins era of the band specifically 1976-1982. For this show, The Genesis Show will be performing the music of Genesis from the ‘77 Wind & Wuthering Tour, also known as The Seconds Out Tour, from which their classic Seconds Out live album was recorded. With two drummers and lots of vintage gear The Genesis Show faithfully reproduces the Live sound Genesis had in the mid-1970’s.
Genesis added Chester Thomson as the live drummer for that ‘77 Tour so Phil Collins could step out from behind the drum kit to sing. Chester brought even power and groove to the bands songs really changing the dynamic of the band. The live versions of Supper’s Ready, Squonk and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway/Musical Box as well as all of their songs suddenly had more power, groove, and urgency. This era of Genesis was the band at their peak as a live act. If you are a fan of this era then this is not to be missed. This show will only be focusing on the songs played live on that ‘77 World Tour for the Wind & Wuthering Album.
While The Genesis Show does not pretend to look like them but the music is about as close to them as you can get without being them and there is a great light show to accompany the music. Grab your tickets today!

For over a thousand years, Tibetan Buddhist psychology has taught techniques for overcoming negative, afflictive emotions, such as anger, greed, jealousy, sloth and ignorance.  In the film THE LAST DALAI LAMA?, His Holiness explains that Tibetan Buddhism is both a religion and a “science of the mind”; he also shares his crystallized understanding of the nature of mind, and its part in the creation and alleviation of all of our suffering.

At an age when many artists are slowing down, David Crosby is speeding up!

When Crosby released Croz in 2014, it had been two decades since his last solo album. But in 2016, only two years after that robust, full-band effort, the 75-year old returned with Lighthouse, an intimate, stripped-down set that highlights Crosby’s instantly recognizable voice, incisive songwriting, and incomparable guitar work.

“Lights twinkle, flicker, blaze and sparkle throughout David Crosby’s finest solo album since his melancholy 1971 masterpiece If I Could Only Remember My name” – Rolling Stone

Now on Sept 29th 2017 comes the new masterpiece Sky Trails.
Produced by James Raymond, the album features a new collection of original songs including writing collaborations with Michael McDonald, Becca Stevens & James Raymond as well as a re-imagining of a Joni Mitchell classic.

Two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and co-founder of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, David Crosby, is heading out on tour in Nov/Dec 2017. Joining him will be five exceptionally talented musical friends, James Raymond on keys, Mai Agan on bass, Steve DiStanislao on drums, Jeff Pevar on guitar and Michelle Willis on keys and vocals.
Crosby is in the midst of an incredibly creative and powerful period and on this tour!

David Crosby and his friends put on an awesome show. It was not full of glitz and glam, no fancy laser light show or costume changes, but it was packed with spot on quality, superb harmonies and awesome musicianship. Crosby’s voice was as smooth as it has ever been and he was warm and charismatic.” -Shutter 16 (Review from The Westbury Theater May 23rd 2017)

The Security Project brings Gabriel’s genre-less masterpieces into the 21st Century. Seattleites Trey Gunn and Michael Cozzi join legendary drummer Jerry Marotta and NY keyboardist David Jameson to harness the core of these songs. Added to the pedigree of these players is the voice of Happy Rhodes. Her 4-octave range is the latest edition to this mesmerizing group.

The Security Project Live is a beautifully reverential and creative reinterpretation of this Peter Gabriel Classic!
Kevin Killen, engineer of Gabriel’s “So” record

The Security Project expertly reimagines Peter Gabriel’s groundbreaking early output, creating an immersive experience both in performance and on its debut release Live 1. The group goes far beyond conventional tribute band territory, infusing the songs with new arrangements and elements while staying true to the spirit of the material. Gabriel enthusiasts across the board will be taken by the band’s high-octane approach full of drive, determination and energy.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS

Slow down and breathe. This contemplative journey follows in the steps of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh and is a rare insight into life within a monastic community. The sun rises. Everything is calm and still. Life is beautifully serene as Benedict Cumberbatch’s composed, meditative voice reads an extract from Thich Nhat Hanh’s early journals. So begins Max Pugh and Marc J Francis’ (Black Gold, LFF2006) fascinating and immersive exploration of what it means to devote one’s life to mindfulness. With unprecedented access to the famous secluded monastery of Plum Village in the South West of France, Walk With Me captures the daily routine and rituals of monks and nuns on a quest to develop a deep sense of presence. It is an insightful rumination on the pursuit of happiness, living in the present and our attachment to material things – a welcome remedy to the stresses of city life and a world in turmoil.

Storied film producer and B-movie godfather Roger Corman is famous for coming up with the titles for some of his movies first, and only later building a story around them. There’s no evidence that that’s the case with Halloween Pussy Trap Kill! Kill!, but it’s at least plausible. The whole movie is summed and encapsulated, hologram-like, in its title. And we’d bet all the candy corn in town that you already knew whether you wanted to see this movie before you even finished reading its name.

While out on tour over Halloween, an all-girl candy-raver band named “Kill Pussy Kill” is presented with an insidious series of deadly traps. Kidnapped and locked in a Saw-style torture house, they’re forced to turn on each other with brutal weaponry and grisly violence to have a chance at freedom.

The movie features model and soap opera star Richard Grieco, the voice of Megadeth lead singer Dave Mustaine (as the ersatz Jigsaw behind the heroines’ torment), one of the former stars of Sharktopus, and several other people with expensive-looking headshots on their IMDB pages. Also it’s called Halloween Pussy Trap Kill! Kill! — a fact which simply cannot be stressed enough.

Mike Bent began his career in magic at age 6, when he checked out his first magic book from the library. That book started him on the path to a lifetime love of learning, creativity and performance that literally changed his life.

Mike started performing when he was 15 years old. By the time he graduated from Emerson College, where he studied children’s writing with Jack Gantos (Rotten Ralph, Joey Pigza), he was performing his original magic and comedy routine at clubs and colleges throughout the country. This led to a performance at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival, and numerous television appearances on HBO, Showtime, ABC, NBC, CBS, Comedy Central and A&E.

Mike has been teaching professional comedy writing at Emerson College for more than 18 years. It’s not unusual to watch a comedy show on television and see one of Mike’s former students listed in the credits.

Voted “Best of Boston,” he quickly became established as one of the top kids’ show performers in the United States. His books, products and lectures have become the standard for the industry.

As MAGIC Magazine wrote, “Mike Bent really understands children’s comedy.”

M.U.M Magazine (the official publication for the Society of American Magicians said, “There is no one in the universe that creates magic routines and comedy sight gags as novel and astonishing as Mike does. Throughout the hilarity, the magic he performs is strong: he doesn’t let the gags get in the way of the mystery.”

As a performer, teacher and dad, Mike knows how to use comedy and magic to entertain, educate and motivate children. That’s what AbraKidabra! is all about. Click on the image above to view Mike’s web page…

Queen Boudicca a Metal Opera is a radical re-imagining of Opera,  a production combining the drama of Theatre with the excitement of a Metal concert based on the real life story of Boudicca, leader of the Iceni and one of the greatest freedom fighters in Celtic history. Rome’s cruel abuse of the Queen and her daughters unleashed a lioness, a savage destroyer the likes of which the Empire had never seen!

A foreboding tune performed on the ancient Warrior’s Lyre, a towering row of monstrous ancient Carnyx War Trumpets, combined with 20th-Century composition techniques, sweeping polyphony, and torrential heavy metal channel the spirits of the 1st-Century Celts by capturing the spirit, rage, elegance, and brutality of Boudicca’s noble revolt.

The cast of Queen Boudicca a Metal Opera includes Broadway / TV Actor Ava Gaudet of Rent (Broadway), and numerous TV and Film credits, a veritable Super group of the New England Metal scene (Seven Spires, Averse, Vivisepulture), as well as some of the best performers that Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory have produced in the Metal and Classical styles.

Few hard rock bands are as widely respected yet criminally overlooked as King’s X. The band, which combines progressive rock and soul with vocal arrangements influenced by gospel, blues and British Invasion groups, still features original members Doug Pinnick (vocals/bass), Ty Tabor (guitar) and Jerry Gaskill (drums). They were ranked #83 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and released over a dozen albums featuring the radio hits Over My Head, It’s Love, Black Flag, and Dogman.

King’s X released their first studio album, Out of the Silent Planet, in 1988. Despite being hailed by music critics, the album didn’t fare well commercially, peaking at #144 on the Billboard album charts. The band’s 1989 sophomore release, Gretchen Goes to Nebraska, fared slightly better from a commercial standpoint. Significantly, the song Over My Head received moderate airplay on MTV and radio. The increase in exposure would prove beneficial when the band released their third album, Faith, Hope, Love, in the fall of 1990.

Faith, Hope, Love was the group’s first album to crack the US Top 100, with the help of the successful single It’s Love. The band landed a gig opening for AC/DC in the U.S. and Europe for the first half of 1991. They also toured with Living Colour and were nearing the peak of their popularity.

King’s X signed with major label Atlantic Records for their next self-titled release. After parting ways with their longtime manager, the band enlisted veteran producer Brendan O’Brien, who had previously produced albums for Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam. The ensuing release, Dogman, performed respectfully on the charts. This success resulted in the band opening shows for Pearl Jam and a show-stopping performance on the opening night of the mammoth Woodstock ‘94 festival

King’s X completed their contract with Atlantic Records with “Ear Candy” in 1996, before moving to Metal Blade Records where they released four studio albums and one live release. The band’s latest studio albums, Ogre Tones (2005) and XV (2008), were released on the InsideOut label. “XV” was their first album since Ear Candy to chart on the Billboard Top 200, ushering in a new wave of popularity for the band.

KINGS OF SPADE are a high-energy, shameless dancing, foot-stomping brand of Blues Rock’N’Roll.  Fronting Kings of Spade is florescent-mohawked, Kasi Nunes, who’s fiery vocals recall a hybrid of soul queens Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin.  Always wanting to push the bar at live shows KOS is in constant collaboration with other performers including dancers, musicians, or niche visual artists. They won 1st Place in the 2014 & 2015 Honolulu Pulse Awards “Best Local Rock Band” category, but have always set their sights on National touring.

With music conceived in their hometown in Honolulu, Hawaii, KOS jumped at the opportunity to record in Nashville, TN, with 2016 Grammy-winning producer, Dave Cobb (Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings). With the help of a successfully over-funded Kickstarter project to raise funds to record with Cobb, KOS finished their second self-titled album which has since been nominated for a 2015 Hoku award for “Best Rock Album.” They finished their 7th US mainland tour with several West Coast dates in March 2016 including a landmark showcase at LA’s Whisky-A-Go-Go. After performing a series of summer dates in June 2017 opening for King’s X in Europe, they return to the Regent Theatre for another unforgettable night of music as the support act for King’s X.
