Wednesday, February 1, 2006, 7:30pm
General Admission: $20/$15 student + senior/$10 kids through 12 yrs

Award-winning Quartet San Francisco is a string quartet that defies common
perceptions of this formation. Although trained in the classical music
world, they have branched out to include dynamic and exciting music of many
styles, including jazz and tango. In 2004 they won the first International
Tango Competition held at the Argentine Consulate in New York City. As Grand
Prize winners, they were sent to Buenos Aires to play concerts in
traditional tango venues, to great acclaim. They were also awarded a Special
Jury Prize, which brought them back to New York to perform at St. Peter's
Church, renowned for their jazz services and concerts.
Quartet San Francisco has performed to enthusiastic audiences across the US.
They excel at breaking down the barriers between musical styles by finding
great music from different genres and adapting it to their own inimitable
string quartet style. Audiences leave amazed at the eclectic variety and
verve that the quartet brings to their performances.
This tour marks the first time the quartet will be performing in the Boston
area.
"The Quartet performed with flawless technique, beautiful artistic
expression, precise dynamic and instrumental balance and musical sensitivity
that brought thunderous applause from the audience after every work. . .
They were enjoying themselves and the results were superb in every
conceivable musical sense! . . Until last Sunday, Quartet San Francisco was
the best-kept secret in the entire string quartet world. They are a must to
see and hear at every possible opportunity!" Register-Pajaronian (CA), March
7, 2005
