Bye, Bye Birdie Fri, July 29th, 7:30 PM Tickets are $8 ($6 for groups of 20 or more) Birdie Takes Flight! Come witness the dawn of rock n’ roll and television and the changing face of post-WWII small town America, in a breathtaking musical bursting with great music, joy, and youthful exuberance. Transport yourself back to the 1950's with the Arlington Children's Theater This year's production is artfully led by Colleen Rua, director of ACT’s wildly successful productions of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (2004) and Oliver! (2003). Ms. Rua, who performed with ACT herself when she was a teenager, says that although Bye Bye Birdie is a comedy, "the characters struggle with the complexity of parent--child relationships, war, love, and rapidly changing times. On the surface, it's all sweetness and light, but there's much more to it underneath." Now in its fifteenth season, Arlington Children's Theater performances are marked by high energy, rousing singing and creative staging. ACT hires professional theater artists to work with the children to bring high production values to the shows. The show, produced by Steve Smith and Jackie Daley, is expected to be seen by over 2000 people over the course of its one-week run. Tickets are $8 ($6 for groups of 20 or more) and can be reserved in For more information, call 781-721-2176 or visit http://ACT.arlington.ma.us. |
