A BUNCH OF WOOD AND A LOT OF STRINGS
the Harp up close!

Sunday, September 28 at 3.00pm

Tix $15 adults, $13 children/seniors

THE QUESTION
What do woolly mammoths, pyramids, castles and spiders have in common?
The answer is hidden in the strings of the harp, and Dutch harpist Brenda Dor-Groot will take you on a journey from prehistory to present revealing these obscure connections on Sunday, September 28 at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA.

THE SHOW
Brenda Dor-Groot is a classical harpist, with a decidedly non-classical bent. She creates an atmosphere in which audiences can truly ‘experience’ the music by adding stories, sketches, large-screen projections, theatrical lighting and costume to live performance by herself, six fellow musicians and a dancer. The music in this multi-media show covers more than seven centuries and will be played on four different harps by one harpist wearing five different costumes (at different times, of course…). Musical styles range from classical (renaissance to contemporary) to folk (Celtic, Irish, Bavarian) to Hollywood, jazz and blues!

THE PLAYERS
In addition to harpist Dor-Groot, the cast consists of flutist Dawn Weithe, violinist Rohan Gregory, cellist David Russell, trumpet player Richard Given, percussionist Dennis Sullivan, double bass player Dan Padduck and dancer/choreographer Monica Thomas.
