AIGA Design in Context Series explores universal design themes through the eyes and experiences of designers working across varied media and design. We are pleased to announce

"From Psycho to Bullitt: Film Titles in the 1960s" presented by David Peters of DESIGN FILMS San Francisco.

David Peters will present a selection of more than 20 ground-breaking works from the 1960s, the golden age of film titles. This tumultuous decade saw seminal talents like Saul Bass, Maurice Binder, Pablo Ferro and Richard Williams do their most iconic and experimental work for some of cinema's most demanding directors.

DESIGN FILMS was founded in 1999 to celebrate the achievements of design and film through ongoing research and public showings. Based in San Francisco, DESIGN FILMS is directed by David Peters with design writer Ken Coupland, motion graphics designers Dav Rauch and, in Duesseldorf, Germany, Kai Christmann.

David Peters has researched thousands of films to create an extensive collection of title sequences and short films on design that span the history of cinema. His pioneering work in media history was recognized by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1993. In addition to his work in media history and aesthetics, David is principal of the communication design firm EXBROOK. Learn more at www.designfilms.org.
