George A. Romero to Appear at BUFF 2004
Boston Underground Film Festival welcomes cult director

Boston, MA –Boston Underground Film Festival is pleased to announce that cult horror movie director extraordinaire George A. Romero will be the special guest for their sixth annual festival of bizarre and insane filmmaking. The festival will take place May 6-10 at the Brattle Theatre, the Regent Theatre in Arlington, the Somerville Theatre, The Cambridge YWCA, and at various other local venues to be announced.

BUFF anticipates screening three of Romero’s films, including the first film in his zombie movie trilogy, Night of the Living Dead (1968). This film is an unrivaled classic in the zombie/horror genre. It provides sharp social commentary and satire, in addition to pulse pounding suspense and stunning visuals. Another film that will be shown at the festival is Knightriders, which was made in 1981. Brother Blue, the legendary Boston/Cambridge storyteller that appeared in Knightriders, will also be present at the screening. In the film, a motorcycle gang offers a retelling of the Knights of the Round Table.

In keeping with the zombie theme, local Boston musicians The Bentmen will stage a zombie themed performance at the Regent Theatre in Arlington. The performance will feature highlights from The Mark of the Astro-Zombies, for which The Bentmen recorded the soundtrack.

Romero will be present throughout the festival, and will give a special presentation of one of his films. Other special guests and events at the BUFF are to be announced. Check out www.bostonundergroundfilmfestival.com  for upcoming details.
