The first of the full-time professional Celtic bands to arise on the international scene, Boys of the Lough now occupy a unique position of respect in the world of traditional music. Spring 2003 sees their fifty-sixth tour of the U.S.

Peter Johnson produced the concert for the Boys of the Lough on their first tour of the US in 1974. Robin Blecher, in whose memory this organization is named, worked with Peter on concerts with the Boys and later handled the productions with her partner, Amy Fonoroff. After Robin died, Music for Robin produced six concerts with the Boys between 1987 and 1993. After a hiatus, Peter has recently resumed concert production with Living Folk Concerts.

With over thirty years experience in the world of traditional music, 18 recordings and two Grammy nominations, Boys of the Lough has reached legendary status. The group features Cathal McConnell on flute, whistles and vocals; Dave Richardson on concertina, mandolin, button accordian and cittern; Brendan Begley on button accordian, melodeon, and vocals; Malcolm Stitt on guitar, bouzouki and Highland pipes; and Kevin Henderson on fiddle.

The Boys of the Lough will be on NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion" December 6.
