AWARD-WINNING FILM ABOUT DRUG ADDICTION,
DOWN TO THE BONE,
COMING TO ARLINGTON’S REGENT THEATRE THURSDAY, MAY 17 AT 7:30PM

Director Debra Granik To Introduce Boston Premiere Screening and Benefit For RIGHT TURN—
A Non-Profit Organization Providing Treatment For Creative People On The Road To Recovery

On Thursday, May 17 at 7:30pm, Arlington's Regent Theatre and Right Turn, Inc. will present the Boston premiere and benefit screening of Debra Granik's award-winning feature-length film, DOWN TO THE BONE--a vivid portrayal of drug addiction and the road to recovery.  Because of distribution problems at the time of its initial release, this will be the film’s Boston area debut screening. A "Critic's Pick" in the New York Times, Down To The Bone was honored by the 2004 Sundance Film Festival with two high profile, prestigious and extremely competitive awards: Best Director and a Special Jury Prize in acting for Vera Farmiga, who most recently starred in Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning The Departed. At the Regent Theatre, Granik will introduce her film and answer audience questions after the screening.

Partial proceeds from the May 17 film event will benefit Arlington-based Right Turn, Inc.--a non-profit organization founded in March of 2003 by Addictions Specialist Woody Giessmann with a vision of providing innovative programming, individual support, rehabilitation service, and ongoing encouragement to New England artists and entertainers (and their families) who have been affected by alcoholism, addiction, and psychiatric issues.

“I counsel people who have high-risk lifestyles because they work in the arts and entertainment business where it can be a struggle for them to avoid potentially dangerous situations in their chosen career,” says Right Turn’s founder, Woody Geissmann.  “Making Down To The Bone was a gutsy endeavor for Debra Granik because it allows people to see in detail the day-to-day struggles of addiction. The movie helps us to understand that just because someone is drug dependent, doesn't make them a bad person—they are simply a sick person who needs help. Granik’s film helps to get addiction out of the closet and into the open where we can talk about how we are all affected by it.”

Down To The Bone will screen exclusively at the Regent Theatre, 7 Medford St. (just off Mass. Ave.) in Arlington, Massachusetts on Thursday, May 17 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For tickets and more info call 781-646-4849 or visit www.regenttheatre.com.  The Regent is MBTA and handicap accessible with free parking across the street.
