FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 26, 2003 CONTACT: Lydia Warren Leland Stein The Lydia Warren Band will hold their official CD release party April 25 at 8pm at the Regent Theatre in Arlington. The 19-year-old blues guitarist/vocalist will be accompanied by her Berklee College of Music-trained rhythm section, drummer Warren Grant and bassist Matt Malikowski. The trio has been hard at work for the past six months recording new material for Pass My Way, the follow-up to their acclaimed self-titled debut from 2001. Opening the show will be special guests, Scissormen. Lydia Warren—who has appeared nationally on NBC's Today Show—sings and plays with an authority and virtuosity well beyond her years. After the release of their first record, the Lydia’s band shared the bill with music legends including Johnny Winter, Hubert Sumlin, Buckwheat Zydeco, Rick Derringer, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. In 2002, Lydia lectured at Berklee, played for 60,000 fans at Montreal's Festiblues, and toured throughout Lebanon in the Middle East. Pass My Way, an exciting mix of blues, soul, R&B, and modern pop, includes eight originals penned by Warren. This will be the Lydia Warren Band’s second appearance at the Regent. Last June, they received a standing ovation when they co-headlined (with the Nicole Nelson Band) the “Blues Catfight” benefit for the Blues Trust. (A few days before, they performed a free concert / clinic for over 900 Arlington High School students.) Next month’s show will serve as a preview of a blues concert series being planned for later this year at the Regent in honor of the United States Congress proclaimed “Year of the Blues.” Making their theatrical debut, slide guitar and drums duo, Scissormen, cut it up, chop it up, slice it up, and mix it up—throwing in everything from a mohawk to a flattop—weaving it into one beautiful Mississippi Delta wigdo. The Lydia Warren Band’s CD release concert, with special guests,
Scissormen, will be held at the Regent Theatre on Friday, April 25 at
8pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Located at 7 Medford
St. (just off Mass. Ave.) in Arlington Center—minutes from Cambridge
and Boston—the Regent Theatre is MBTA and wheelchair accessible
