MICKEY ROONEY TO CELEBRATE 85TH BIRTHDAY LIVE ON STAGE AT ARLINGTON'S REGENT THEATRE

Legendary Entertainer/Movie Icon To Star with Jan Rooney In "Let's Put On A Show" September 23-25, 2005

Friday through Sunday, September 23-25, The Regent Theatre in Arlington will present "Let's Put On A Show--A Very Special Evening of Songs, Reminiscences and Jazz," an autobiographical play with music and video that celebrates the life and times of one of the world's most notable actors and entertainers, Mickey Rooney. The performance weaves anecdotal and musical memories of Rooney's life in film, stage, vaudeville, and burlesque, while celebrating the women in his life, including Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, and Jan Rooney, his current wife of over 30 years and co-star. The Friday evening, September 23 performance falls on Rooney's 85th birthday for which special tributes are being planned.

"Jan and I have always loved the state and people of Massachusetts," says Rooney. "And nothing could be better than a small vaudeville theatre. There's a joy in working live," he said. "It's in my blood. We know everyone will enjoy this special show on a very special day for me.”

Show times are Friday, September 23 at 8pm with matinees Saturday and Sunday September 24 and 25 at 2pm. Reserved seats are $30 to $100 with VIP tickets and group rates available.
