FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Leland Stein (617) 694-6612 JANUARY 27 BENEFIT CONCERT FOR ARLINGTION’S REGENT THEATRE TO FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS FROM “A NIGHT AT THE ROCK OPERA,” JOHNNY & THE MOONDOGS, PHYSICAL COMEDIAN DAN FOLEY, AND THE LEGACY DANCERS OF THE DANCE INN On Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 8pm, The Regent Theatre in Arlington will host a benefit concert, “Recharge The Regent,” to raise funds to upgrade the venue’s production equipment. The event will feature friends of the theatre and veterans of the Regent stage including Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra performing highlights from “A Night at the Rock Opera,” Ben Rudnick’s Johnny and The Moondogs, physical comedian Dan Foley of the Airborne Comedians, and a special appearance by members of the Legacy Dancers and faculty of the Dance Inn in Lexington. Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra’s "A Night At The Rock Opera" features 18 Singers and 7 Musicians performing the music of the Beatles, The Who, David Bowie, and Queen, as well as selections from Jesus Christ Superstar, and an all-original mini-opera. An all-star cast of Boston area musicians brings these masterpieces of epic rock to life. Says Sal Clemente, co-founder of URO, “The Regent Theatre and its staff have played and continue to play an integral role in the success of "A Night At The Rock Opera." Participating in this fundraiser is a welcome chance to repay a small portion of the debt we owe to the Regent. For music fans coming out on the 27th to support this great space, we will do our part to have the place rocking!” Johnny and The Moondogs—the electric alter-ego of good-time family band, Ben Rudnick & Friends—play original and familiar music (think “Women are Smarter” and “Route 66”), blending rock, calypso, and country. Their from the heart (and soul) musicianship comes through loud and clear, and features the singular mandolin style of John (Johnny) Zevos, Ben Rudnick on guitar, Mark Yacovone on piano/organ, Arnie Ashford on bass, and Jared Steer on drums. Join Johnny and the Moondogs as they channel the vibe of rock and roll both new and old. Dan Foley is a comedic juggler and half of the award-winning Airborne Comedians. Dan has traveled the globe performing his quirky and uproarious comedy for people and anyone else who wants to see him. The Legacy Dancers of the Dance Inn—New England’s only professional tap repertory company—is made up of energetic and enthusiastic young dancers who range in age from 10 to 18. Performances include a wide variety of dance styles from tap and jazz to musical theater. They recently performed at Disney World, the Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies, and at the New York City Tap Festival. The historic Regent Theatre is located at 7 Medford Street (off Mass. Ave.) in Arlington Center. “Arlington’s Show Place of Entertainment” since 1916, the Regent is MBTA and wheelchair accessible with free parking across the street. Tickets for the Saturday, January 27, 8pm “Recharge The Regent” benefit event are $15, $20 and $30. For tickets, directions, and more information call 781-646-4849 or visit www.regenttheatre.com. ###
