FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GENRE–DEFYING ROOVER / PICKER-POET MICHELLE SHOCKED, LAUNCHES JAMS TOUR – INVITING `YOU’ TO JAM WITH HER SHOCKED’s POPULAR RECORDING ODYSSEY -- ARKANSAS TRAVELER – SET FOR RE-RELEASE SEPTEMBER 14 ON MIGHTY SOUND/RYKO Los Angeles – Southern iconoclast, Michelle Shocked, always gutsy, outspoken, unique and soulful, is launching the JAMS TOUR, which invites fans from the audience to come on stage and jam with Shocked and friends. The tour, which intends to break down conventions, while encouraging spontaneity and creativity, kicks off an East Coast run September 22 in Morgantown, WV through October 3rd in Woodstock, NY. In keeping with the spirit of her bluegrass roots, and the re-release of her popular epic recording, Arkansas Traveler (Mighty Sound/Ryko), in stores September 14, Shocked invites fans bring their fiddles, guitars, banjos and mandolins to jam with her on their favorite songs. The JAMS set list and audio stream is included on Shocked’s website www.michelleshocked.com, for fans who want to practice beforehand. Shocked, who has earned a reputation as one of music’s most genre-defying and politically outspoken talents, comes full-swing as she returns to her bluegrass roots with the re-release of Arkansas Traveler. The popular work was first released in 1992 and is a travelogue of the old-time string band and fiddle tunes she grew up playing in her native East Texas. It is the perfect music for a jam session. Says Michelle, “I call it my Strawberry Jam motto: music is a lot like politics – it’s too important to be left to the professionals.”
