``SIN: A CARDINAL DEPOSED,'' at the Regent Theatre, Arlington. June 9-27.
Playwright Michael Murphy has crafted a potent drama from the sex abuse scandal that has shaken the Catholic Church to its core. Using the actual depositions from Bernard Cardinal Law, Murphy allows the questions of the victims' lawyers - and the cardinal's denials - to speak for themselves. The play also includes testimony from Patrick McSorley, a Boston-area abuse victim who died earlier this year.
The Chicago-based Bailiwick Repertory Theatre presents its highly praised production with the play's original cast, including Jim Sherman as Cardinal Law.
By bringing the play to Boston, where the testimony is based, the producers hope the play will be a telling account of bureaucratic obstruction, as well as a vehicle for healing and social change.
Tickets: $30 and $40; 781-646-4849 or www.acardinaldeposed.com.
