FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Stephen Dane (508) 428-1024 THE EDWARDS TWINS’ “CELEBRITIES ON STAGE” COMING TO THE REGENT THEATRE “The “Edwards Twins are brilliant…flawless vocals and visuals… in many ways they are better than watching the real thing!” People Magazine “One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.” Carol Burnett “If you’re one of those people who would love to see a fabulous Vegas-style show but never had the chance, this one is for you. [They] blew the roof off the joint!” Providence Journal “The Edwards Twins voted the most Extraordinary Twins in the World.” Princess Cruise Lines Born on February 17, 1965, in Burbank, California, The Edwards Twins have been singing and mimicking the stars since they were old enough to watch television. The twins got into the business, Anthony believes, because “we were born next to the NBC studios in Burbank. We used to hang out at the studio where Laugh-in and Hollywood Squares were taped and we’d see the stars.” As kids, the twins put on shows for their neighbors–who happened to be the executives and employees of the television and film studios. Before combining their talents for a debut show at North Beach Café, Eddie worked as a makeup artist and female impersonator in revues including “An Evening at La Cage,” in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Anthony played piano, sang in show clubs, and performed in variety shows including a stint with “La Cage” in Toronto portraying Neil Diamond in a Barbara Streisand tribute. Both performed in the touring productions of “La Cage aux Folles” before creating their own show, in which Anthony plays the male roles while Eddie perfects the women. Anthony and Eddie Edwards have spent the last nine years paying their show biz dues–touring around the country earning rave reviews and standing ovations. The Twins impersonate a number of stars including Billy Joel, Barbara Streisand, Elton John, Bette Midler, Neil Diamond and Sonny & Cher—complete with costumes, wigs, makeup and props, while using their own voices. In addition, Anthony’s repertoire includes more than 20 vocal impressions of solo artists such as Johnny Mathis, James Taylor, Lionel Richie, Julie Andrews, Aretha Franklin, and Celine Dion, as well as vocal groups like the Bee Gees and Stylistics. While the “Celebrities on Stage” show is innocently risqué at times, it is not played to be raunchy. These are two very talented singer / actors who have honed their characters down to a tee while complementing each other perfectly. Anthony’s Diamond and Eddie’s Streisand sing “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” so convincingly, you would swear that you are seeing and hearing the real deal. After seeing the twins perform in upstate New York, a senior writer for People Magazine said, “The Edwards Twins are major, major talents. These guys are dynamite entertainers. You will never see any other celebrity impersonators pack this much punch into a show.” Beginning Thursday, September 23 through Friday, October 22, 2004, The Edwards Twins will perform a limited run as “Celebrities on Stage” at the Regent Theatre in Arlington. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 8pm with Sunday matinees at 2pm. Reserved seats are $35 and $45. The historic Regent Theatre, Arlington’s “Show Place of Entertainment” since 1916 is located at 7 Medford Street (just off Mass. Ave.) in Arlington Center. The Theatre is MBTA and wheelchair accessible with plenty of free parking across the Street. For tickets and info call 781-646-4TIX (4849)
